Cleaver Wedding | Grantham Wedding DJ

Towards the end of October I had the pleasure of playing at the beautiful wedding of Mr & Mrs Cleaver, or Alicia & Anthony as most will know them. The wedding venue was the Chequers Inn, in Grantham, Nottinghamshire. 

I hadn’t played the venue previously so called beforehand to find out about access and facilities. The Manager was very helpful and gave excellent instructions. 

The venue is in an idyllic, beautiful village in Woolsthorpe, Grantham. The Chequers itself is a 17th century pub that has a superb modern extension to the rear which has been built specifically for weddings, parties and other events. 

Upon arrival the staff were great, helping at every opportunity. Access was simple with just a few steps to where I needed to get set up. Nobody likes carrying heavy equipment too far!

Wedding DJ Grantham

Alicya & Anthony wanted to make sure all of their guests and family had a great evening. They gave me a specific playlist with songs for everybody’s tastes. Alicya is a big fan of 00s and 10s pop music whereas Anthony likes a bit of everything. 

The couple decided not to accept requests from guests in the evening. They felt some of their friends and family had very different tastes in music and it wouldn’t really suit their theme. 

Alicya & Anthony said to blame them if the guests were insistent. Fortunately everyone was really understanding of the couple’s request. They gave me around 3 hours of music on their playlist. I added an additional 2 hours of songs, being sure not to include any of the songs the couple absolutely didn’t want!

Anthony & Alycia gave me 3 specific songs to start and they were great selections. The first dance and following two songs had everyone on the dance floor. 

The last track went down a treat and it was great to see friends and family around the happy couple. I got everyone to give Alicya & Anthony a big cheer at the end and they shouted back, “let’s hear it for DJ Spencer”, which was very nice for me. It’s so rewarding working for such nice people.

Alicya & Anthony’s Review

Groove Sound (Spencer) was absolutely brilliant and we could not recommend him more. Prior to our wedding his communication was fantastic, asking what our preference was music wise and must play songs which we would like playing – all of which he listened to and ensured he played. On the day Spencer arrived with plenty of time, was polite, friendly and approachable. Our dance floor was filled the entire night and everyone had an amazing time. Thank you so much for being so amazing!!!!!!
